7th Yu-Shi Memorial Scholarship

In order to commemorate his mother and to encourage the children of police officers to study hard, Chairman Huang Yu-ching of the Friends of the Police Association, South District of Tainan City, awarded the Yu-Shi Memorial Scholarship grants named after his mother every year to the well-performed children of police officers. With behavior score over 80, Mandarin score over 85 and average score over 75, the children in college and senior high school could receive scholarships of NT$10000 and 5000 respectively. A total of 19 children were awarded this year. Chairman Huang stated that it’s not only a motivation to these children whose behavioral and study performance is up to standard, but also an encouragement to the hard-working guardians of the people. The police officers that received the scholarship for their children were made proud of their children’s achievements.

6th Yu-Shi Memorial Scholarship

Tainan City Mayor Hsu Tain-tsair attended the award ceremony of the 6th Yu-Shi Memorial Scholarship in the sixth precinct of Tainan City Police Bureau on the afternoon of September 2nd. The Yu-Shi Memorial Scholarship was provided for the 6th year by Charter President Huang Yu-ching of Rotary Club of Tainan Cheng-Da to encourage police officers’ children with merits in senior high school and college.

Mayor Hsu took pictures with Charter President Huang, Director-general Gao Kun-hui of Tainan City Police Bureau, Director Yang Ji-lin of the sixth precinct of Tainan City Police Bureau, and police officers attending the award ceremony. Mayor Hsu congratulated the police officers upon having happy family and outstanding children. He also extended his appreciation toward Charter President Huang for leading Rotary Club of Tainan Cheng-Da and founding the Yu-Shi Scholarship to support police officers and their families.

Mayor Hsu stated that police officers shouldered heavy duty, and thus being their spouses and children are exceptionally hard for they need to take care of themselves. Mayor Hsu noted that Rotary Club of Tainan Cheng-Da has been upholding spirit of service to the community and making selfless contribution to the society. The scholarship founded by Charter President Huang has been continuously giving back to the society. Mayor Hsu felt honored to participate in the award ceremony and he appreciated Rotary Club of Tainan Cheng-Da for supporting police officers and their families. Mayor Hsu encouraged police officers to continue enduring hard work and take surefooted steps toward happy broad road.

Charter President Huang, provider of the scholarship and a member of the Friends of the Police Association, said police officers and their families were the Friends of the Police Association’s care. He humbly said the scholarship is like throwing out a minnow to catch a whale. He hoped it could help these children to further their achievement. The total amount of the scholarship provided was NT$200000:NT$110000 for the children of the sixth precinct of Tainan City Police Bureau and NT$90000 for the children of the fifth squad of National Highway Police Bureau. Charter President Huang thanked Mayor Hsu for taking time from his busy schedule to attend the ceremony.
